We should all be ashamed of the Gukurahundi period just as we should be of some aspects of the Third Chimurenga(killing of whites and opposition MDC people).
I do believe compensation will indeed be in order for the Gukurahundi victims. It is also important for the government to make the people of Matabeleland feel as part of the nation. People's complaints need to be looked at. The starting point is employment. There is no need (at least as far as I know) for clerical/cleaning staff to be centrally recruited for deployment to districts. Now as we speak clerical staff in governemt departments , ZIMRA etc are mainly from outside Matabeleland. Go to Plumtree and BeitBridge border posts to see what I mean. Such practices breed frustration.
As for unity between the tribes this has been demonstrated over and over again. All tribal-based parties have failed to make an impression in Matabeleland in all the previous elections.Ask Paul Siwela of ZAPU 2000 . In short tribalism does not play a part anymore in Zimbabwe.
People learn with time. The people butchered by the CIO in 2000 (Talent Mabika ) were not Ndebele.ZANU-PF was destroying MDC just as it did destroy PF(ZAPU) , it was only an accident that victims(PF-ZAPU supporters) were Ndebeles
I dont think the seperatist movement Mthwakazi People's Congress has any effect. What needs to be done is to ensure that the country's resources are benefiting every Zimbabwean.
Let us forge ahead as a nation but let us acknowledge the past.

PROF KEN MUFUKA CRITICALLY LOOKS AT THE ZIM CRISIS!
“OUR CHALLENGE AND OUR LEGACY”
“................................The atrocities in Matabeleland started in 1981 and ended 1988. Only the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace raised the issue publicly.
My thesis in this paper is that these extra-judicial activities consumed the greater part of the Zimbabwean Government until 1998 to the exclusion of Economic Planning...............................................”
